Hi all,

I havent been posting for some time, mostly because I have been feeling so good since takedownSmiler

However, the last few weeks I have had some trouble. After TD my stool became semi formed, like applesauce consistence, with the help from Imodium and Metamucil. But one month ago it just changed over a day and became all watery and not much substance at all. I have tried to increase the Imodium dosage, eating thickening foods and doing everything right but nothing helps. I am worried about this as I am trying hard to gain weight and need to absorb all nutrients I can get.

Can the consistence differ from period to period? Or what has happened to me?

You didn't really say, but are you still feeling good even though things are looser?

I started doing the whole metamucil/ fiber thing after my TD, but stopped after a couple months. I would actually PREFER my BMs to be looser.

Its just SO much easier to empty my pouch loose vs semi formed. Sure, I may have to empty a couple extra times per day because of it, but I definitely get a better feeling of emptiness when Im done.

BTW, I was under the impression that I wasnt getting all the necessary nutrient value from my foods, and thought that that gave me a license to eat more.....I was SO wrong. I put on like 35 lbs in just a few months so now I get to diet and try to lose it again!!

I think consistency will change though from time to time...esp if you're having to go through a bout of pouchitis or cuffitis.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your comments Bill. Yes, I still feel good. I dont have any other signs of pouchitis or cuffitis. But I am worried about the nutrients and i do prefer the more formed consistence because it lowers my BM frequency and makes it easier to empty.

Sofia,

I find that the consistency of my stool changes a lot. I will go through a few days where things are really thick, and then have a few days of the opposite. And when things get runnier, I can try bowel slowing meds and fiber with no results too. So, I attribute the changes to bacterial changes in my gut that I have little control over. You will probably find things getting back to normal eventually. If you find things are really bad though - try a good probiotic to try and regulate. Or, if things get worse, go to your do and think about antibiotics. I avoid the antibiotics and hope things will get better - and they always do.
