After 12 years I have been having a difficult time with what my doctor calls a flap. In mornings, this flap will make an "appearence" after two bowel movements. It is getting in the way of my normal activities and I'm constantly stopping -even walking- to clean up leaks. After lomotol, a hot bath I have to take an 800 mg Motrin and relax for a while to get the flap back in. Only then can I exercise or become active. Canasa suppositories also seem to help, but when the drugs wear off the flap returns, sometimes penfully. It's a hassle and I've asked my doctor about getting the flap removed. He said its a simple procedure, but that he doesn't know how much he'll have to remove and there is a slight chance that I'll become incontinent and will have to then go on the bag. I'd rather die. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this problem and how was it resolved?

Are you talking about a pouch prolapse (where a portion of your pouch escapes through your anus)? If you do a search on prolapse here, you'll find several members with the issue. Usually, the fix is not to remove any tissue, but to tack the pouch back into place, so it does not slip out.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
