Hi bobolink

No my gastro has not tryed antibiotics. He has me on Rowasa enemas and wants to reavaluate me in a couple of months.

Your doctor's approach does not appear to match the current practice of first trying antibiotics such as Flagyl, Cipro, etc.:

I know you have a g tube, which would determine exactly which antibiotics should be prescribed, but Dr. Shen does not start with Rowasa. I think you need to get a second opinion somehow. I hope that will be possible given your situation.

Perhaps the concern is that antibiotics would slow and thicken her output too much. Since already she is unable to empty without intubation, this could make the inertia problem worse.
