Thank you all so much for the advice.

J-Dawg...as for the 6-MP, I was never against trying it to begin with. In fact, I wanted to as soon the Asacol was not working anymore instead of going back on the Prednisone. My GI doc at the time did not listen to me and suggested I wait longer. So back on the steroids for 6 weeks then off again. My mild flare turned severe and after my 3rd colonoscopy in a year, the Remicade was suggested because I needed to get in remission ASAP instead of the 8-10 weeks it might have taken w/the 6-MP. I'm not interested in getting both the Remicade and 6-MP because of the long-term effects nearly doubling. I do not have the attitude that most people do about trying every single drug there is out there. I just do not see it being worth the harmful risks in the future (30 years from now)

I agree with you ElmerFudd, it makes much more sense to go into surgery being healthy than to be in the hospital due to a bad flare and have it right then. Right now, prednisone is the only thing keeping me at a mild flare and able to work.

I think you are right Philouza about being mentally prepared. A few weeks ago, I was very scared and nervous. Now I am actually looking forward to it and happy that I am much more educated. Even if I could predict I would only have one bad flare a year for the rest of my life, keeping my colon still would not be worth it to me. Prednisone makes me a very different and mean person. Pain, blood, anemia, and feeling incontinent every day is just something I cannot live with for another 6 months to a year 'in hopes' to find another 'dangerous' drug that may or may not work. I've had enough of my colon controlling my life.
