Hi Guys

I 'm gonna have a surgery in CC and i want to ask are doctors there understand and flexible

For example,

1st, they'll require me a CT Scan can they gonna enter the contrast through anal, and i really cann't handel that while i'm awake can i ask them to do it while i'm sleeping or druged?

2nd, after the surgery they use to put catheter to drain my urine (i hate this also and i can handel without it )

so can i request to ignore these unpleasent stuff, on my responsibility ?

Probably have urine catheter for a few days after surgery, will be put in while you're asleep.

if they have to do anal ct before surgery they did not put my son out and he begged since his pain was all rectal

depends on which dr too i think

who are you working with?

I had surgery with Dr. Fazio recently and I woke up with a catheter. It didn't bother me though...it was kind of nice not having to get up and go to the bathroom. They took it out around day 4 I think. I did not have to have the CT scan so I cannot help you there. I did have to have a test where they put a balloon like this in my rear and filled it until I couldn't stand it anymore. I think it was to check my anal muscles. I was awake for that and while it was embarrasing it really was not that bad.

Regarding the CT scan they usually don't put the barium in through your rectum they have you drink kind of a punch flavored drink for that. Well I've had I think probably 7 CT scans and everytime thats what I drank.

If they need to insert liquid through your back end, ask them to use a pediatric catheter. It is very small and comfortable. They use much lubricant on it and I had no problem with it. Be sure to tell your prescribing physician you are very anxious about having this procedure. Perhaps he will order something to help you relax. Best wishes!

I don't know why they would want a CT scan. But they will want a pouchography. They will use a small catheter to enject some enema then take x-rays. I also had the anal manometry done, this test really isn't that bad. I'm the same way as you, it was always a little irrated in my rectum so just digital examinations hurt very much. It tended to hurt a little more to because my efferent limb had kind of a sharp angle so it was difficult to stick a catheter in. Unfortunatly they can't do much when doing these test. The pouchography was very uncorfortable for me, as is pretty much anything involving the rectum. The way I see it is stuff is supposed to come out that way not up that way, thats why it hurts so much. Just grab something and grunt yourself through it.
