Does anyone know if the doctors are just as good in Jacksonville? I had surgery in Rochester in 1985. I've been to Jacksonville for two evaluations. Ended up surgeon I saw trained under the doctor that did my original surgery in 1985 but she went back to Rochester. Not sure why. I live in GA so Jacksonville would be a lot more convienent and less costly but I would like to go to the best place regardless. I have tried to stay around here and it just does not seem to be working out. Thanks in advance!

For what it is worth, I have FAP/GS and goto Mayo JAX and LOVE IT!!!

Are you needing a consult or just continuous follow up?

My experiences with the GI in Mayo JAX are GREAT!

I had an awesome experience at Mayo in Phoenix w/ Dr. Tonia Young-Fadok. She pioneered the single incision j-pouch. Her specialty is minimally invasive surgery.

I had a 3 step done all lapro and only have one 2 inch scar from all three surgeries. Totally amazing. I would highly recommend her.

dx UC 2008 - tried everything from nutrition to Remicade to get into remission to no avail
I ended up dependent on Prednisone and and had no option other than surgery

total colectomy 11/18/09
j-pouch formation 2/17/10
take down (scheduled for 5/11/10)

Dr. Landman is my surgeon at the Jax Mayo Clinic and Dr. Picco is my gastroenterologist. Both are totally fabulous and although I've been to hell and back over the past year I feel like I got the best treatment possible. No doctor is a miracle worker, you know? The staff at the hospital is also terrific. Let me know if you are going in for surgery and I'll give you the low-down on all the nurses to ask for!
I've also seen a ton of other docs there - pulmonologist, rheumotologist, infectious disease doc - so if you need any other recommendations please don't hesitate to ask!
Where in GA are you?
