Hi Been a whilst since I posted here, which is a good sign. However, had a recent bad pouchitus session and whilst a 3 week course of a mixture of Cirpo and Flagyl has cleared up the loose stools, blood etc I am still having severe, unbearable pain from the rear. This is meaning that I cannot empty my pouch fully, a little every hour after a meal has worked its way through and then really feeling pretty bad, lack of sleep etc. Normally I empty my pouch 2-3 times daily and once or twice at night. Been taking codeine phosphate for the pain, but my body is getting used to the 30mg dose 4 times a day so it is starting to have little effect. I have been unable to reach my consultant, but do have an appointment with my GP (GI) tomorrow morning and want to be able to point him in the direction of the next appropriate step. Should I be asking him to try something like steroid suppositories? Can anyone recommend a more powerful and effective pain killer? I am pretty sure that I am not getting any further benefit from the the antibiotics and am taking a probiotic supplement as well to try and aid recovery. Hydration is not bad at present so seem to be Ok on that. Please help!
