I have been experiancing horrible "spasms" about 2 inches above my belly button that last for 8 seconds at a time and return every 3 minutes or so. They are very painful and cause lots of gas too. It seems to happen mostly at night and keeps me awake. It as been going on for 3 days now and can't seem to find relief. I have had my j pouch for 15 years and have never experianced this. Can anyone relate or give me some advice?
Thank you so much, Beth - Beth ***LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH*** "No guts, ALL glory" |

Are you passing stool and gas from your J-pouch without difficulty? Do you have any belly distention?

That's usually the way I feel when I have a blockage. The pain comes in waves every few minutes. Are things passing regularly? The fact that you have more problems at night seems to indicate that something is going on based on the position of lying down at night. I would give your doctor a call and see what they say. Have you been stressed about anything lately?

Yes I do seem to be passing gas and passing stool. I do have excess gas though. I am waiting (2.5 hours) for my doctor to call me back! EEEK!

I think its time to have your gallbladder looked at. Sounds like biliary colic or inflamed gallbladder if you are passing flatus and stool fine.
