J-Pouch for four years.

This pain is right in the pit of my stomach - the pain has been so bad for five days in a row. It starts about 2 p.m. and it's so bad that I have to take a Percocet. Today I had to leave work early due to the pain.

What is it? Can anyone guess?

Sounds like an ulcer, you should go to the doctor, since it has been going on for so long.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Thanks Jan,

I have an appointment tomorrow with my GI doc. I'll let you know the outcome.

Jan,

My GI doc put me on Amitiza. After I went home and looked in my med file, I realized I was on that a year ago by my family doc and the Amitiza didn't help at that time. BUT maybe it didn't help because I was also on Rifaxamin at the same time.

My GI doc asked if Amitiza was what my family doc put me on last year and I couldn't remember the name of it. That's why I looked it up.

My GI doc wanted me to get back on the Rifaxamin, also, but I'm going to hold off of that - I'll let him know.

He also did a bunch of blood work. And he gave me another script for more Percocet just in case the gut pain returns.

I am doing pretty good today.

Interesting. I guess you had some motility issues after surgery that caused constipation?
