Unfortunately or fortunately things are finally working for the most part, so I dont post or even visit the site very often anymore. Sad, but I have become one of those that used this site to get over difficult times and have had a tough time finding my way back. Anyway, my problem has to do with my barbie butt/ken butt. I went to visit Dr. Fazio at the Cleveland Clinic this last Tuesday and received a thumbs up for my KPouch. I have continually had leakage from the ken butt and he said that it was unfortunate but sometimes that area is just difficult to heal. I flew home to Memphis, went to work the next day and was fine until 3pm in the afternoon. Then I started having blood showing up in the dressing that I use for the drainage. As the day went on, the blood increased. Overnight it seemed to have become very heavy. By afternoon on Thursday it seemed to have slowed or stopped. Thursday night it came back with a vengeance. I went in to see my local doctor and he cauterized it with silver nitrate. That kept me from bleeding for about two hours. Then it came back again and has been bleeding since. I called Fazio's office on Wednesday and again today but have not heard back. I have no pain and feel good other than am nervous about this bleeding. My local doctor thinks its just granulous tissue that may have erupted after some trauma (sitting in the wrong position or something). This very well might be the case, but why wouldnt it clot off? why would it start after a non-strenuous day at work? What can I do to stop the bleeding?
Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I dont think I am losing enough blood to worry about aneomia or anything, but it is certainly causing me stress and making me change dressing about once every two hours or so. Mike S |

Hi Mike,
It's really good to see you but I'm sorry it's because you are having issues. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I'd rather not see you here than see you here with problems. My anal wound took about 2-3 months to heal but that was because I had MRSA so I think it strange that after all this time your's still hasn't healed. Perhaps you could ask Dr Fazio about the possibility of a surgical repair? I don't have any answers for your bleeding problem except to be the squeaky wheel and keep ringing Dr Fazio until you get a call from him. I really don't think it's normal to still be having drainage let alone bleeding. Perhaps you need a full blood count to see why you are not clotting? I hope that this can be resolved for you soon because it must be a real pain in the backside (pun intended) to have to cope with the constant drainage. Take care and keep us posted. One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Hi Mike,
I don't have any answers for you on this issue because I only had a Barbie-butt (well, sorta) for a couple of months while my jpouch healed.. But I just wanted to say welcome back and I'm sorry to hear you're having some troubles... I've been one of those long-lost jpouchers also, but Ive made it part of my new years res. to start getting on here more often to keep in touch and try to help others! Anyway, keep calling Dr. Fazio and see what he says about all of this, hopefully it can be solved fairly easily.
