I have been having some bleeding (very minimal) on occasion lately. Last time my surgeon looked at me last week he said he thinks its coming from the outer area and not the cuff. He said that based on the state of the colon when removed and the location of the tumor (stage one cancer), he is not worried about the cuff gone bad. He says he can tell a lot by seeing how his patients look and based on what I was telling him he thought I was fine. And indeed I do feel great, pouch works great, I have a lot of energy etc.
I guess my question is if it is possible to have cuffitis and feel this good?. Is it possible to have small amounts of blood here and there and it not be the cuff? Thanks!! |

I would think it means nothing. If it's occasional, a small amount, and you have no other symptoms. Those blood vessals bleed very, very easily. You might notice over time with your pouch that you'll sometimes have bouts of bleeding which, of course, will freak you out because you KNOW you're going to be losing your pouch. This won't be the case, it's just happening just because. So if it's basically staying the same I think you can trust your doctor's assesment.
