Please help. Everytime I go to the bathroom, I get a stomach ache afterwards. I don't strain and everything seems normal, but immeadiately following, I have terrible cramps and feel like someone has kicked me in the gut.
Has anyone experienced this before? It has been going on for a while but it is getting worse. I am worried about going to the doctor and what they might say or tests they might suggest. I'm feeling desperate for input. Thanks. |

Sorry - I do not have any insight for you, but am responding to bump this post back up where it will be seen.

Since it has been a few years since your surgery, this is not related to recovery.
How long does this pain last? Where exactly in your abdomen is the pain? This could be any number of things, but since it is triggered by a bowel movement a good suspicion might be endometriosis. This might be especially suspect if you have a history of painful periods. If it has been a while since you were examined by your OB/GYN, now might be a good time. Thank you so much for responding! I have been checking and checking and was feeling so alone with this.
Jan, how would one system have to do with another. Does having a BM trigger anything in the reproductive tract? My discomfort is right in the belly area just below my belly button. It feels different then period cramps but crampy in its own way. When this occurs it lasts anywhere from 15min to up to two hours. I could ask my obgyn. I just hate to go to yet another doctor. Thanks again for any input. |

With endometriosis, the lining of the uterus comes out of the tubes and "seeds" onto the surrounding tissues. Often this is the intestines. I think that we usually tend to assume that all our ills are j-pouch related because it has touched so many parts of our lives. However, we are still susceptible to all the other ills that everyone else gets too.
Endometriosis is very common. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000915.htm Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
