Ooh, poor you. That's not much, is it? I had the same problem and I was getting too thin to be able to have the second surgery so I just HAD to put on weight. I did the following:
1) Eat as you watch TV, read or whatever. It means that you can eat when you're not really very hungry. (Basically the opposite of what you should do if you want to lose weight!)
2) Eat bananas, avocados, full fat yoghurt (assuming you tolerate all these things). They give valuable fats, minerals and calcium.
3) Exercise as much as you can confortably. It'll improve your appetite and help you regain strength. Good luck!

I was 233 the day of my operation, 8 weeks later I am 195. I try to eat good, but in light of not being able to keep on weight, I am adding donuts at work and not eating the low fat items I ate regularly before.

I've noticed as I have made my work day longer that my appetite has gotten bigger. I don't care to eat a huge dinner as it means later bathroom trips for me.

I also went into the hospital for #1 at 178 lbs and came out at 143 lbs. 9 months later I have leveled off at 155 and like it this way. I go to the gym 3X weekly and feel much stronger. My wife thinks I'm too skinny, but I feel good at this weight.

Hi,
Eating more hasn't made me go to the bathroom more often. In fact, when I was at my thinnest (while I had the ostomy) my output was at its highest. I'm not sure where you'd go to get these things in Egypt, but you could try a pharmacy, and ask for protein drinks. There are lots of products out there designed to help you gain weight if you're recovering from surgery, for instance. Most look and taste like milkshake, but often they are dairy-free. Good luck! To be as thin as 47 kilos is frightening. That's several kilos lighter than me at my worst, and I'm 10 cm shorter than you. Has your doctor tried to help you find ways to gain weight?

When I was trying to gain weight, my ET nurse told me to take an instant breakfast drink mix (like Carnation here in the States) and mix it with whole milk and ice cream to make a shake.

I had a weight problem too. I'm 5'10 and got down to 100 pounds! I actually had someone tell me that I looked like I just got out of a concentration camp! Thanks Roll Eyes I love how people are so sensitve!
It took me over a year to gain my weight back. I just had to keep eating and eat several small meals or snacks through out the day. After I started gaining it back people were excited because it was the one time in their life they could say to a woman and not get in trouble, "You've gained weight!" Smiler
It might take a while, but you'll get there.

I lost at least 20 pounds during my takedown hospital stay that spanned 11 horrid days, that was 6 months ago, I am back to being 120 and at a height of 5'1 AND A HALF I think I have done well. I don't know about the rest of you, and mostly girls, but I quite like eating sandwiches (like, salami sandwiches) w/ potato chips for breakfast and lunch and it has worked wonders for me. I also drink the carnation instant breakfast and love it, it's choc milk choc full of vitamins, who can turn it down?

This week, tuna fish sandwiches w/ chips for breakfast and lunch!

I love carbs, what can I say...
