Can anyone recommend a specific doctor I should contact at the Cleveland Clinic. My surgeon can't seem to find anything wrong with me and I can't deal with the pain anymore! Please help!

Dr. Fazio if you can get him. There are others on the staff who are good too, he just sees the most complicated cases.

Lori

Don't give up. One good thing that happened to me was that during an attempt to fix my abscess/fistula, I had a temp ostomy for a year. The fix didn't work, but I became comfortable with the fact that I might have to live with an ileostomy eventually. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, but I'm more at peace. Just try to take one thing at a time. I know it's pretty consuming when you're in pain though. If you are not on an antidepressant, you might want to look in to it. Chronic pain/illness can really throw your mental chemicals out of whack. It has helped me a great deal.

Ok, I'll quit babbling. I hope you get some relief or even hope. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Lori

Carrie,

I'm not using him as my insurance will not cover him but in Ann Arbor @ St. Josephs there is a Dr. Flanagan who did his training @ the Cleveland Clinic. I am so glad I consulted him he suggested things that the other two specialists I've seen here in Michigan hadnt.

He was very personable and answered my wife and I's questions to the 'T'. I noticed your in Michigan so this would be a way to get the benefits of the CC without having to do all the travel...others on this site have used him too.

good luck!

Mike

Hi Carrie,
I am sorry you can't find any relief to your pain. My surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic is Dr. Lavery and my GI Dr. was Dr. Bo Shen. Both were wonderful. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Carrie,

Have you gone to a GYN to see if theirs any problems. I went through years of pain and nothing really being the cause except things got a whole lot worse with my period. So after years of begging my GYN he finaly agreed to do a Laparascopy and found amoung all the adhesions I had an extensive case of endometriosis with endometrial cyst every where. I'm not saying this is your case but just wounding if you have seen a GYN
Bet of Luck ......Jessica

Dr. Siedner was my GI doc at the Clinic and my surgeon was also Dr. Lavery. Dr. Lavery was awesome for me. He was very personable, direct, concerned and honest with me about everything. My GI and surgeons here in my hometown told me that I only had mild-severe colitis at the bottom 8 inches of my colon, however Dr. Lavery removed my ENTIRE colon, telling me the whole thing was shot and I was very lucky to have it removed when I did. He ended up keeping me in the hospital for 2 weeks after my first surgery and 2 more weeks when I had to go back because I had developed 2 abcesses. I would strongly reccomed him and I have also hear very good things about Dr.Fazio. Best of luck with your decision and health, do keep me/us posted on your progress.

Carrie,
Dr Flanagan removed my colon in 1991.
I grew up in the White Lake/Union Lake area - super close to you!
Good luck,
