Hi ladies -

I have a question about 6MP and periods. It seems like my cycle is really wacky even though I am on birth control pills (Seasonale - I get my period once every 3 months). I started spotting Friday night. Not heavy but enough where I need to wear a pantyliner. I never have had spotting issues (been on birth control forever!) I had my period last month - so I don't know why I am spotting. Has anyone else had problems? I am wondering if the 6MP is really messing things up!?!?! I know the pill isn't as effective once you are on 6MP - it makes me wonder if I should stop taking it for now and use another birth control method.

Should I call my gyno? I don't see her until July for my annual.

Any insight/advice would be appreciated!

Karen, I was allergic to 6mp, but prednisone did that to me. I would bleed for weeks, then stop for maybe 2 and start again. I had to take progesterone once or twice to regulate things again. But, it was irratic for a long while. I would definitely call your GYN, and let her guide you on whether you should try another form of birth control.

My period has been funny since I started 6MP in January. I still get it on time (i.e. every 28 days) but it takes like 2 days of spotting to start then it is real heavy (sorry for the details) for a day or two, then it is gone. It seems like the duration is shorter but I am spotting for a few days beforehand and while it is with me it is just like a waterfall.

I do think 6MP impacts the menstrual cycle a bit but I know nothing about the impact of the pill. I would definately call your gyno for that one. Doesn't antibiotics also effect the pill? I think it does, so I would ask the doctor.
