im really at the end of my rope here...no sleep at all last night because i was in so much pain with muscle spasms (sphincter muscles)...i tried a heating pad and advil but that was useless. my doctor looked in my jpouch about a week ago and said it is the best it has ever looked-looks perfect except i still have a little fistula at the rectum that is healing. well, i dont feel perfect! he gave me some nitrogen/hydrocortisone paste to try (i guess in case my fissure is causing spasms? or fistula?) ....i have tried it for a week and i still have bad spasms. i dont eat much...it seems the only way i can get sleep is if i have only fluids for a day or two. i am hungry all the time.... if this paste could help, would i notice an improvement yet? i heard about botox injections in extreme cases...i have had spasms for over a month now...is that extreme? i cant sleep and i have trouble walking and driving. im stuck at home basically....anyone try botox for muscle spasms before???? did it hurt? did you lose control? (can you lose control forever?) help!

take care

I may not be of much help but I have had some issues with muscle spasms, but not in the same area as you. To me it felt like it was 'every where'.
I have Levsin SL that helps and on a very rare occasion I have some valium tablets. Both work well for me.

so, i get muscle spasms periodically, too, and i was wondering...jennifer, when you say "all over", do you feel like your urinary tract is included? when mine are at their worse, "all over" for me feels like all of my pelvic region. levsin sl helps me too.
thanks!

Yes, when I say all over it feels like my pelvic region. Sometimes I think it is worse at the end of the week or the end of the day depending on how busy and tired I am. Sometimes I just need to go to bed and put a heating pad on my stomach. I really is not debilitating more of an annoyance.

I've suffered from spasms pretty much since my take down 4 years ago. I have found Bentyl to work the best so far. It is a prescription that you can get from your doc.

Anyone else notice that spasms are worse during or just before "that time of month"?
