Hi everyone.
On Monday, I ate sushi which sometimes agrees with me and sometimes does not. I have had a few blockages which required hospitalization and several mini ones where I have been able to eat liquids only and drink a lot of grape juice for a day or two with total relief. The problem is that this is not working this time. It started with a small cramp on my side which has been getting worse over the last few days. The thing is that I am going to the bathroom. Unlike usual though, it is small amounts and pure liquid, and I have urgency which I don't usually have. I don't want to go through the hassle of seeing a doctor for them to tell me to just wait this out, if in fact, that is what I need to do. What do people think? I have also been VERY tired lately. Could this be connected? |

Sounds like it could be a partial blockage. Continue with your usual routine of liquid and move around a lot. Just don't want too long. If you need to go to the ER, go. I used to feel badly for going to the ER for a blockage thinking this was something I should just wait out at home but that's not the case. If you need pain meds, IV's and a possible NG tube you have to go.
You know you're body and you've had these before so you know what to do. I don't see a doctor for these because they either tell me to go home and wait it out or to go to the ER. But that's your call; you may have a doctor that might try to do something. Could you call the office and give the nurse a message to pass along to the doctor and let them call you back and advise you? "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." I agree, it does sound like a partial blockage. There's no reason you should be living with that kind of pain for more than a couple of days. If you need to go to the ER, go! That's what they are there for.

sounds like it to me too....
Start walking a whole bunch and try getting yourself on all fours and arch you back...generally just move your gut around as much as possible. You should probably see the doc at some point. A couple of xrays would let you know for sure Hang in there! Julie What I say is from the heart...To give, from my experiences..So others can feel well enough to do the same |

Finally did it,
How are you doing? Your partial blockage sounds like mine - blocked even though liquids are coming out. Most J-Pouchers find that moving around and drinking liquids (preferably grape juice) and not eating will see you through. However, the moving around part doesn't work for me. Exercise makes it worse except for relaxation techniques. Laying supine with a hot pack on my abdominals helps best for me (and drinking hot tea or grape juice). Let us know how you are doing. Peggy in Haskins, Ohio - I'd be lost with out all of you! |
