I can identify with your issues. My takedown was Nov 2007. I have had very brief periods of time when I don't have soreness, intense itching and burning. I, like you, have tried the items you mentioned plus A&D, even 5% xylocaine. I do take vicoden if it gets really unbearable. I am on xyfaxin now. I use a sitz bath on occassion also. Help!!

You do not mention using mesalamine suppositories (Canasa). Cuffitis is the top cause of rectal bleeding post j-pouch surgery. What type of abscess do you have? Perianal or perirectal, or deep pelvic, such as presacral? Makes a difference regarding how it is treated. With the perianal/perirectal, sitz baths can help it resolve. Jan
Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

I have a perianal abcess. I have been taking sits baths for some 2 months but it does not seem to be getting any better or worse for that matter. How long does it take to resolve itself? Thanks for the Canasa suggestion. Do I need a perscription for it?
Thanks
