It's 4+ weeks post my pouch redo surgery with Fazio. I'm in NJ recovering at my parents so I do not have the medical follow-up I should have. I've been severely nauseous all this time and can't get a grip. Can't eat and have lost 10 pounds since surgery. Was in the local hospital twice for dehydration (also 2 units of blood the first time). NO one knows what to suggest. My ostomy is working fine - everything I manage to eat comes out, and every dr. who checks says my stomach is soft and there are bowel sounds, so unlikely it's an obstruction. Taking Zofran, but it's not doing much by mouth. It worked when they gave it by iv in the hospital.
PLEASE! I want to die. Somebody please tell me what I can do.
The ostomy nurse here also found I have an open wound around the bottom of my stoma and an oozing abcess on the 9:00 side of my stoma. I went to her because of the burning pain I keep feeling. Was just put on levaquan, but I think it made my nausea go crazy last night. The dr. switched to Cipro which I'd been on for the last 16 years for my pouchitis.
Please anybody who can give me help, insight, anything!
I emailed Dr. Shen at Cleveland Clinic since I had seen him also. He wants me to come there and have a CT scan, a gastro graffi enema, and an endoscope to rule out obstruction and pouch inflammation. I don't understand why I should go through these right now when it seems silly to search for an obstruction.

Wendy...sometimes we can't see the reason for why the dr.s want us to do certain things. Dr. Shen is tops in his field, so if you have exhausted all resources, it might be the way to go. If anything, they may be able to give you something to make it more bearable..
Hang in there. You hear so many times, it will get better. Try to believe that. I'm hoping you get an answer really soon.
