Anyone ever have an abscess after the ostomy take-down surgery?

I have already had an abscess at the ostomy wound, and I now think that I have an abscess at the cuff (connection of the pouch to the rectum).

I had one step and had an abcess after that. However, it took them a while to diagnose it.

Yes, I had one by my tailbone in the crack of my rearend. It was one of the worst pains ever! They drained it & packed it at the hospital. The doctors thought I had Crohns because I had an abscess and fistula right after surgery. Another look at the pathology confirmed UC. I've had my Jpouch for 14 years!

You might have pouchitis. Are you on any anti-biotics or probiotics? Call your doc and let them know how you are feeling.

I have 2 right now. I had pouch surgery 11 1/2 yrs ago and the abcess started 3 1/2 ago. I have a drain in one cause it's reoccuring. Now the drs think I have crohns. They did say it could be a stricture that is causing it?? Good luck and take lots of baths
