Hi, My surgeon wants me to try a catheter. He wants me use one to help empty, not one where you insert water instead it should be something that drains / pools the stool out. Does anyone know which is the proper cather for this function and where I can purchase one? My surgeon thought it was a medina cather, but you take a syringe and push water into the pouch. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Solomin

Solomin, A medina would work just fine or even the rectal caths that they use for endoscopies...the point is that it needs to be a large enough caliber for the poop to pour out without a problem...you also need to use lube to not irritate yourself and to use a cath with a couple of flute holes in it (like the medina)...marlen also makes a good one..you may want to try a 24-26 at first and if it isn't large enough go to a 28 or 30... Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....
