Does anyone have part of their abdomen pooch up and down where you can literally see and feel it? This is happening to me mainly in the morning lying in bed. Gurgling nosies then a cramp pain the then pooching then it goes down? Its like an alien! My gastrologist has given me genertic Bentyl because I having bloating and cramping which is used for IBS/IPS(which he thinks I have). How many of you used Bentyl and for how long.

I have chronic pouchitis and am using Flagyl suppositories as a last ditch effort(after tying everyting else) before having the j-pouch removed. I'm guessing there could be a host of reasons for the pooching, pouchitis, partial obstructions, adhesions, kinks, hernia? Sigh!!

Thanks

GMarie

Hi! GMarie
I have had my jpouch for 13 years. I had my surgery in Houston at Park Plaza Hospital. My family lives in Houston. We moved to NY about 10 years ago.
I have quite a bit of scar tissue. I sometimes have terrible pain with a food blockage. Then I get the rumbling and contractions with what you call pooching. I can feel the food moving through my guts. I take Librax and Ultram when it gets bad. Usually walking and just moving around helps. The noise is embarrassing in public. At home my husband ask me "when will the coffee be done?". Sometimes I sound like a percolator! I won't even start on the bathroom noises!!
You could have allot of gas. Lately I have more than usual. After the release I fell better. You might want to take something for gas. A little Milk of Magnesia works for me.
I take Levaquin for pouchitis. No side effects. A diet with little fiber and acidic food might help your pouchitis. It helps for me.
Good Luck!

It is like a balloon in your stomach being blown up and down.

I think it is gas and possibly food that is blocking anything from going thru your guts.

I can watch my stomach undulate with perisalsis. It does look like an alien - grosses my husband out. Thankfully it doesn't hurt but when my intestines twist, I think that is the place that does it.

mine does it too! it is crazy to watch your belly move up and down from one side to the other! I always just figured it was food and gas moving around in there! Does your belly make loud noises?? Mine is so loud sometimes!
