I am having my take down around Thanksgiving. I am having it done at Mayo in AZ, but live in Colorado Springs, CO. What kind of Doctor do I want to have a relationship with with regards to the J Pouch and any questions/help I may have and need? Would it be a gastroenterologist, or a internal med? Anyway, either way, does anyone recommend a good doctor here in Colorado Springs, CO. My Gastro is great, but only works part time and is impossible to get in to see, even in an emergency, so I need to make a change anyway. Thanks

My surgeon in Phoenix prescribes my lomotil and does my follow up scopes. You'll want to find a good GI to do your follow up scopes in CO, unless you want to travel to Phx each time you need something. Be sure to find a GI who has scoped J pouches! My GI would see me but I haven't had a need for anything yet, and since my surgeon is familiar with my new anatomy I choose to stick with her for the scopes. Good luck at Mayo! Enjoy the AZ weather when it's nice and cold in CO!

Thanks for the advice. When I had the 1st surgery done August 26, it was 115 degrees in Phoenix! Crazy. In November we could have snow in CO, or it could be 60, either way it will be SUNNY and beautiful, but I am sure Phoenix will be more tolerable in November and always beautiful.
