Help me please. I'm sure some of you have to know what I am talking about, experienced it, have advice, and so on. This has happened to me multiple times...I start to have issues with going to the bathroom, then my pouch seems to get all angry, then for days my whole abdomen hurts like someone has beaten the crap out of me. I am in one of those cycles again. Makes me not really want to get out of bed, much less get out of pjs into clothes. I am dealing with quite a few issues...j pouch, desmoids that have a grip on a couple of loops of small bowel and right urter, the right ureter has a stent in it. So lots of irritates before we even get to the complications that can arise when you add food and those issues. I just want to feel better and get out of these cycles. Family doesn't know how this feels therefore it makes it hard for them to understand pain and discomfort. I can't pinpoint any certain foods that I have eaten before these episodes. I eat pretty healthy overall. The only thing that always seems to be the same is that it always seems to happen during or after some crazy hectic times. Like crazy late nights in a row on the road for tournaments, stuff like that. Like I said, just want to feel better. Thanks so much for your help. This board is the best. Very helpful on those nights when sleep just seems to be a distant memory.

I'm not familiar with what goes on with FAP but your symptoms sort of sound like a partial blockage to me. If that's the case, then warm liquids, no solid foods (or very soft foods), move around as much as you can.
You might want to PM Chuckus (Charlie) since he has FAP and he may have some other solutions for you. I hope you get to the bottom of this. It must be very frustrating for you to go through this over and over again. Please let us know how things progress (or hopefully DON'T progress). kathy *********************************************************** Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it's been..... Sounds like you are having partial bowel obstructions and I think you are also realizing that what you eat is not the issue. It would seem that high levels of stress are your main issue. I think that when you are in these times of stress it is important to maintain as much of a normal routine as possible. You may have to forgo some of the "fun" that everyone else is having, but that may be your only real option. Just like with a little kid, you need to keep things simple and rest when you need it. You may respond to something like antispasmotics when you get into these periods to prevent them from becoming full blown. Something to discuss with your doc. Also, like Kathy mentioned, when this hits, then switch to liquids or at least a very soft diet until it passes.
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
