I just wanted to share with everyone that I'm getting married. I have finally found someone that I'm completely comfortable with and trust with everything. This is the first man I've ever dated that I felt comfortable enough talking about all my problems with the J-pouch.

I've never had trouble showing my scars and telling people about my story but I've always been embarrassed about the leaking, the gas, the going 12 times a day, the butt burn, the fissures, etc. It has taken me a year to tell him EVERYTHING I deal with but each time I tell him something new he looks at me like I'm stupid for being embarrassed. "Everyone poops, Baby," he says.

So anyways, to all you out there that think you can't talk about all this stuff- you can! You just have to be with the right person.
By the way, the wedding is this December 23rd.

Thank you everyone for all your support on this forum.
Lori

Congratulations! That's awesome. And a Christmas wedding (close to it) at that. I'm glad you found someone who really understands unconditional love.

I am new,but wanted to say congrats. I have been with my fiance for almost 6 years and has been supportive as well, it is nice to come home to someone who cares. And does not mind all the problems.

Big Grin Lori, that is fantastic news! I'm so glad you've found someone so supportive. They DO exist; I'm engaged to one, too. It can take a long time to let down your guard, and believe me, there are still days I wonder how Paul sees all this crap going on with me and still finds me even remotely attractive.
I wish you lots of luck, love and happiness in your marriage.

Congrats! I wish you all the best in your marriage. I got married weeks before my surgery and I can really appreciate and relate to having a great man that's not swayed or freaked out by many bathroom trips or related other fun and exciting poop adventures we got through.

WOW Congratulations Lori!!!! I'm so pleased you found someone who loves you regardless of the potty problems. I've had my terrific hubby for 17 yrs. He's been through everything with me. It makes dealing with this illness and its issues so much better when you are a team. Smiler

Best wishes to both of you! I think that we tend to think things are more difficult to share than they really are. Plus, I think that men are less inhibited about bodily functions in general than women. However, my husband only stopped locking the bathroom door in the last 5 or so years (we've been married 31 years and together for 40 years)!

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Great news! It is so good to hear a happy story. Kudos to you for having the courage to trust him enough to share and to him for proving the kind of guy he is...

Enjoy every moment of this special time and celebrate your wonderful relationship.

Fantastic! Congratulations! I was already married when I was diagnosed with UC, and he's shown me what it means to be there in sickness and in health. He's always been there for me, and it sounds like you found a good one, too!
