Very frustrated right now. I know in the long run I am going to be sooo happy with my Jpouch but right now (3 weeks post take-down tomorrow) I am kinda furious. It's holding me back just like UC used to do.

My friend owns a boat and Memorial Day weekend is the big boating kick off weekend out on the lake. But they typically will leave the docks early and go to this cove where all the boats tie together and stay there til evening. There is music, dancing, food, some beverages, and an all around good time. Because everyone ties together, it is close to impossible to leave the cove before sunset.

This is entirely too long for me to be out on the water with no access to a bathroom. 4-5 hours, yes I can do that, maybe even 6. But not all day. So I am sitting home (new to town so don't know too many people) and missing a good time... Boo! Maybe next year, right??

Ok, done ranting.

Well if you want to make yourself feel better, count all the times your UC prevented you from enjoying social occasions!

My husband has a healthy colon and there is no way he could go all day without a bathroom! He won't go out on a boat or anything like that.

Sorry you couldn't go...maybe next year like you said. Smiler

DX UC 2005 when I was 37
Tried every drug and diet....all failed
Step 1- 6/25/10 (colectomy & J-pouch creation)
Step 2- 10/8/10 (take down)
Very pleased with my results.

With all the eating, drinking, dancing, etc. I can't believe others won't need to use a toilet (or substitute for one) during the day! What do they plan to do if the urge hits????

BTW......those plastic bags used to take food, etc. home from the supermarket are multi-functional! I've "been there/done that"!

Haha CeeeCeee! That would be a sight, huh? Most people pee in the lake. I guess in the big picture I could always jump on some one else's boat if they went back to the docks. I just don't know anyone there aside from my friends who stay out all day. I guess I'm just making excuses.

But on a 'rave' side of things; I met up with everyone later last night at a bar. I hung out, had a few cocktails, and even a 'girly' shot (with whipped cream vodka - very sugary but delicious) and had NO PROBLEMS!! No gas from the diet coke or the sugar. AND played a bit of 2 on 2 basketball after the bar. So yay for feeling normal for a few hours!!

ICC....when I mentioned the multi-use plastic bag (with handles from the supermarket), I didn't mean using it just for peeing! I spent some time practicing at home in my shower stall and it got so I perfected the process of emptying my J-pouch while standing upright in that shower while positioning and holding on to that bag! Then....all I needed to do was use some wipes, deposit them in the bag and dispose of the whole thing. Guess you'd need to find a bush or something....a tree, etc.....to stand behind and do all of this. It did work for me. Good luck!

CeCe - I figured that was what you meant, but think the way I worded my response didn't come out quite right.

But you know, that really is a good idea. I am going on a bike/camp trip at the beginning of August and will be in the woods for 4 days. This may come in handy! Thanks!
