How long does it take for disaster responders to bring relief of drinking water? Am I prepared? Dehydration is prevalent to us No Colon People. I'm thinking three gallons would last me three days and that water would be available by then, but lets hear it from the experts who've been through it all. Have any of you been in or know of others who have been through disasters? How much water do you think is needed until the water supply is restored? But let's not limit this to water only. What are some struggles or stories that you have that could help me, a J Poucher, be prepared for a disaster?

Hi Janet, I live along the Gulf Coast and the rule of thumb here is 3 gallons of water per person for 3 days...but I prepare for a week at least. I also stock up on canned/nonperishable pkgd foods, parmalot milk/canned drinks, make sure I have propane for the gas grill, fill up 5 gallon gas tanks for the generator, have cash on hand because ATM's will not work because electricity will be out, stock up on medications, make sure gas tanks in the cars are full, stock up on ice before a storm for coolers (but that's when you know it's coming...not sure about earthquake preparations). Hope some of these ideas help!

Janet, You might get more replies if this was in the General Discussion forum. Also, having Gatoraide and Smart Water on hand would be great since keeping electrolytes at a optimum level would be a concern.
