I know I don't have to tell anyone here how stressful dealing with UC or any of our other wonderful diseases can be....I had 5 horrible years with it before having surgery last summer. In that time I was barely able to work and our financial situation just kept getting worse. We lost the battle to hold on to our house last fall and have been blessed enough to find a house to rent that is suitable for our family including 4 kids and 3 dogs. We are in the middle of filing bankruptcy so that the foreclosure doesn't completely destroy us and I am now very able to work...in fact am working 3 jobs so that we could get back on our feet. My medical bills are almost paid and last week we paid off the last of our vehicle loans! We were planning a vacation with my brother and his family this summer on my 1 year anniversary to celebrate so I scheduled to have a tune up done on our truck so we wouldn't be worried driving it to Tennessee in June. Appt. was for today. Last night our truck which we just paid off last week started making a noise we didn't like....I just found out an hour ago that the motor is totally shot! Apperently something went wrong with the oil pump and it was running with no oil for who knows how long....no light came on or anyhting and first noise we heard was last night on our way to drop it off at the garage! Being in the middle of a bankruptcy there is no way we will get financing for a new or used vehicle so I am not sure what we are going to do. I am feeling so guilty right now becuase my husband has worked sooo hard and I feel like I put us in this spot. I have already called my brother and canceled our trip and am not looking forward to having to tell the kids it is off. Why can't we catch a break???? Sorry this is so long winded I am just very frustrated right now...... Tiffany Chamberlain-Post

I suppose it wasn't under warranty or else you would not have created this post. It might be worth writing the manufacturer of the vehicle if there was no indication (check engine light or display) that something malfunctioned. Perhaps it was part of a greater systems failure. My father has a used out of warranty/no warranty vehicle on which the transmission started having trouble. The models sold by that manufacturer with that powertrain were problematic for transmission troubles and failures. He went and talked to the dealer. I think the dealership got involved on his behalf and the manufacturer ended up replacing the transmission at no cost. It might be worthwhile to write the manufacturer or get a dealer involved. Sorry for your troubles.

I would contact the manufacturer like luckyone said. Push a little. These people want your business and your business recomendations so they will often try to help. You're doing AWESOME on the financial pickup! Its HARD. Harder than people know who haven't gone a couple years straight where they get a *stack* of medical bills nearly every time they go to fetch the mail. Keep truckin! God is Good. All the time.

I don't know how far away your brother lives or even if it's feasable, but can you rent a car for the trip? Sometimes you can get deals or use frequent flyer miles or someone elses miles to rent them. My mom uses her miles for other people all the time. Know anyone with extra miles? Congratulations on doing so well! It's going to get better, it already has.

Hi Everyone! We have decided to fix our truck! We ordered the new motor and hope to have the truck back late this week! As for the vacation, my brother lives in Florida and we are in Wisconsin. He decided that he is going to still rent a cabin and it will be last minute but we are going to still try to go down there. Buying another vehicle was not an option due to us filing a bancruptcy but God has provided and we are able to fix our truck and walk away with a 3 year parts and labor warranty. God is soooo Good! Thank you for all your support and suggestions! And thank you for allowing me to rant while I was upset! Tiffany Chamberlain-Post
