Just want to let ppl know that its amazing what a difference 3 months make. Today is my 3rd month with my end illeo and I feel better then I can ever had hoped for! I am already swimming, back in the hot tub and looking forward to returning back to the ice for hockey! I hope everyones pouch works out for them, but if you ever have to go this road it will never hold me back from anything! Pill free, eating what I want and have my life back 100% for the first time in years! Shell, Janna and Jill thanks for the input throughout this whole year and a half!

Thanks for that post, Jason! So far so good with my pouch, but you never know - and posts like this cheer me up

Jason,
You are an inspiration, and I couldn't be happier for you! It's great to hear from you all the time, and how good you're feeling, even if you tend to rub it in! Keep doing what you're doing around here- you're making a huge difference to a lot of people by sharing your experience, enthusiasm and generosity... //Todd Step 1 - 2/8/05 Step 2 - 5/10/05 Reversal back to permanent ileostomy - 3/11/08 ** I Love Food. ** AIM/YahooIM: Br8knitOFF |

What a great post Jason!
I'm so glad (though not a bit surprised) that you have done so well after everything you've been through. You don't have to thank us for our help, that's what we are all here for and you have certainly given back just as much with your positive attitude, advice and support. Keep up the great work and stay well. Take care One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Jason-
Just a note to say "Me, too." I had the pouch done in Jan, takedown in March of '06, just like you. It was one horrible year after that. I went with the end ileo this January, and haven't felt this good in 4 years or more. I'm 32, felt like I was 100, and now I feel about 20! Life is good, and it's encouraging to see I'm not the only young guy out there who went down this road. I, too, hope that everyone's pouch works well for them. Mine didn't (at all), and I really can't say enough about this option. No more pain, meds, butt issues. I can do what I want when I want, no more fearing going out in public and being unable to work efficiently. I wish you the best, and hope for smooth sailing here on out. Why did you have to get rid of your pouch? Was it a disconnect or a complete removal and anal closure? Thanks again for such an upbeat post. I COULDN'T AGREE MORE! LIFE IS GREAT! All the best- Paul |

Grateful,
I had all sorts of issues in my 6 months with the pouch (including dysplasia in the cuff and so on) The last operation I had was end Illeo, cuff removed, 2 hernias fixed, a lot of adhesions removed and everything moved to the left side including the ostomy. Its now 3 months and I cant believe how wonderful I feel and I know its only going to be and get better! I am 36, State Trooper and can still wear my gunbelt and work and also getting ready to start skating in a bit and get back to ice hockey! Glad you are doing so well and I agree... some ppl never consider this an option and its the best thing that has come my way in a long time!
