Well, the pain around the rectum has pretty much turned out to be a recurrent fistula. It hasn't opened up yet, but I can feel it and there isn't any other explanation for what it could be. I had surgery a little less than a year ago to fix this damn thing. I had to have an ileostomy for 10 months, only to have 4 weeks of relief and a pretty normal life.
Anyone else had this sort of problem? Should my surgeon have cored out the old fistula tract and closed it on the outside too? What is this news about a fibrin plug? How well does that work and what is the process like? ANY advice would help. |

Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |
