I'm so upset and so glad there is a place to post where people will understand. I decided to have the surgery last spring so that I could finish college. Well now I'm having complications and having trouble finishing my student teaching. I just want to graduate. This is so discouraging. At least I'm not on prednisone...

I'm having unexplained abdominal pain. I have lots of medical tests to try to determine it, but nothing has been found. I might have a capsle endoscopy soon. If it gets stuck in there, then there will be emergency surgery to remove it. If it goes through and nothing is found, then my doctors have to discuss whether or not to do exploritoy surgery. I may have to go back to the ileostomy. All this is going on while I'm supposed to be student teahcing. I havn't been in class in a week and a half. I'm so afraid I won't be able to graduate. It's been a long, difficult five years. Student teaching is my last step. It's all so frustrating and discouraging. My best friend's wedding is on March 24 and I CANNOT miss it!

Have they ruled out adhesions? Where are your pains? Sue

My pain is lower abdomianl, mostly on the left side. Adhesions could be the cause, as all tests have found no blockages. Just playing the waiting game with doctors right now.

I did have a lot of unexplained abdominal pain and when they did the surgery before the final take down they took out a lot of adhesions. I had an abcess burst in my stomach after they removed my colon and the cleaning of it caused adhesions. Once they were removed I was fine.

I know how you feel...I'm a junior in highschool, and as I've missed over 50 days each and every year, I JUST scrape by. Thank god for 504 medical plans, or I would have just dropped out and given up years ago. I missed all of october and november this year due to surgery...I'm petrified that I'm not going to be going to college because of my grades, which makes me terribly depressed because I went into freshman year in mostly honors classes because I'm so goddamn smart. I've wanted to be a surgeon all my life, but my grades will sadly prevent me from doing this. However, through all my absences, I have an 96 average in Anatomy, one of the hardest classes at my school...so I guess all my medical problems paid off somehow
just remember to always look on the brightside...it keeps me sane. CHELSEA Perm Ileo March 11th!!! MY GOD COMPLICATIONS!- two abscessed wounds, two surgeries, an ileus, raging e.coli infection, drain in my buttcheek to drain a pocket of infection the size of a basketball, TPN and IV antibiotics for a month, BUT I'M ALIVE! 5/23-hospitalized again, e.coli infection came back....iv antibiotics again. blood clot found from picc line. neverending! 6/21 hospitalized...again. e.coli and staph. drain again. |

Chelsea,
You can still become anything you want to be. My son whom has no physical problems except being lazy barely got by in High School. He had no choice but to enroll in the local state communtiy college and now after 2 years he is graduating with honors in Bio and can get into just about any 4 year school now. He wants to be a colo-rectal surgeon of all things-will see.(I'm the one with the pouch). It's still a long road but at least it is a plan-plan A Major league baseball player, plan B medical school, plan C physician assist, plan D nurse. Good luck and follow your dream. PS He has had some major baseball setbacks-surgeries on his back, broken arm last year but he keeps on going and it still plan A. Susan "True stlye is about living passionately" |

I know how frustrating it is being so close to the end but feeling like it's not going to happen.
I am sorry you are going through it. I was halfway into last semester, Language Arts Practicum, when I had my surgeries. So I would have been student teaching in Sept but it's just pushed back a few months, Jan 2008. But I do hope you can graduate and I am sure you will be a wonderful teacher because you have been through so much you have perspective! Keep me informed. I will be praying for you! I had adhesions. I spent eleven days in the hospital. I did miss my best friends' wedding. Saddest thing ever. I'll cry about it til I die. I won't graduate this year. I can't move out of my parents' house! Mass quantities of frustration. Thanks for the encouragement all.
