Well, the fun has to stop sometime and I am going back to work November 1st! Its amazing when I look back to everything over the last 2 years and to be as lucky as I am today to feel as great as I do! Its now 5 monts since my end illeo (felt great after 3 months but wanted to live and enjoy life a bit) and I thank God every day for how lucky I am to feel this great. I am back in the gym, in the hot tub and working out and well other husband like things LOL!
Going to be so great to put the gunbelt back on and get that part of my life back! Thanks to everyone on the site for the help and best wishes - they meant a lot and go a long way! I hope that ppl can see from me that even when the pouch doesnt work and you choose a different path life can be wonderful! I am truly blessed and lucky to be where I am at today and there isnt one day I dont realize that! Ok, enjoying my last week off! This message has been edited. Ahh, yes, that unfortunate thing called 'Work'. Well I'm sure you'll slip right back into the swing of things, and it's so great that you're feeling so well! I haven't worked since March and frankly I'm just not sure I'm going to remember how to do anything when I finally have to go back. Lol. You're story is pretty inspiring and you're posts have helped a lot of us! Enjoy the rest of your time off
I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown. |

Jason,
I just wanted to let you know that you have been an inspiration to me. I have been on this site since being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis two years ago. You and others like Janna, Shelly, Jan, Judy just to name a few have shown me that in spite of what is thrown in your direction a positive attitude is very important and there is life after an ulcerative colitis diagnosis. (I didn't think so 2 years ago). Enjoy your last week off. Please continue to post I enjoy reading them. Thanks again. Mary Ellen |

What a milestone Jason! That's when you really know that life gets back to normal!
I know for me that if I didn't have my part time job to go back to I would be climbing the walls by now. I am extremely lucky to have worked for the same wonderful husband and wife team in a small finance business for nearly 3 years now and they are so very understanding of my health problems. They realise that being able to work is just as important to my wellbeing as all the surgery and drugs have been. It's so important to have the normalcy return once you've been though something like this and I believe that it is getting back out there and doing normal everyday things that has helped spur me on in my recovery. Good luck with your return to work and enjoy your last week of leisure, you've certainly earned it! One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Congrats Bro!
It’s been a long road and you have held yourself up like to Trooper you are. Keep that positive attitude going, it is contagious and has helped A LOT of people here. Now that you’re back on the force I guess I can start speeding more on the PA Turnpike. I'll just drop your name... 6M$S (Bill) |

Thanks you everyone - Its weird 5 months ago I was offered perm disability (2nd time) and just couldnt do it. I know me and my drive and to see where I am at now is so exciting (though I am sure 1 week into work I will be yelling again lol)
Just amazing all the struggles we go through and when there seems to be no end near and no way of getting back life - Well it comes back and this disease and everything I went through and ppl i met has been in a weird way a gift to me... I will be on here all the time and trying to help others Jason - Pa statie7104@yahoo.com Step 1 Jan 06 Step 2 March 06 Spleen & Gallbladder June 06 Pouch Disconnect / End Illeo May 07 |

Jason, I may pick at and tease you and get the dander scruffed up under your bandana, but you know i wish you the very best. You are one of the good guys. (I'll deny I said that in a court of law.)If i'm ever in your area i'll be sure to have you paged.
Good luck and try to keep a full ticket book. Judy Some days we have to make our own sunshine. (my mothers favorite saying.) |

Great news, Jason. I am constantly amazed by your posts...I'd be hard pressed to think of someone who has handled all of this better than you. I'm sure the past 5 months have been fun, but returning to work will give you back the life you had to leave behind before. I'm always anxious to return to work after surgery (but I'm also a complete Type-A control freak, so....) and always feel so much more "normal" after I do.

Good Luck Jason,
Congrats on 4 hours of Hockey and rejoining the force. You are my inspiration as well. Couldn't have gotten so far without you. Your 'wings' are in heaven after you enjoy 80 more years of bliss. e |
