Just venting because I'm feeling sorry for myself.

My family was stricken with norovirus (awful intestinal flu) a couple of weeks ago. While I've recovered from that, I think it has led to pouchitis. I've had subclinical inflammation for a while now but I was completely asymptomatic and managing well with probiotics. I haven't had full blown pouchitis in a year. But right now, I have some telltale symptoms--up 2-3 times at night, feeling I'm not emptying, fatigue, gas, extra butt burn and aching pouch. Fun times. I have a standing order for cipro/flagyl so I all have to do is call the pharmacist, but I'm trying to avoid the antibiotic route. I'll give it a few more days, but if I don't feel better by the weekend, it's back to antibiotics for me.

It's just frustrating. I'm doing fine and then one stupid virus knocks my entire system out of whack. Boo.

Thank you for listening to me whine.

Blech! As if the norovirus isn't enough.... I always get a bit hyper when I get a bad virus; they just seem to tilt everything the wrong way.

I'm sorry, and I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, it sucks. Still, I'm going to the antibiotics as a last resort because I've managed without them for so long, even with mild inflammation. I find that often after I'm sick, even with just a cold, my system gets out of whack for a few days. I'm hoping it will sort itself out and I don't end up with full blown pouchitis. Fingers crossed!

Spooky, I find it takes me a month to get my system back to normal after a bout with the tummy bug. I would ask for a few tylenol 3's to see if its just the lingering effects of the Norovirus. Also GinLyn, Do you ever get a antinausea drug when you have the flu? I too used to get out of sorts mentally and physically and pinpointed it to Tartive Dyskenesia from getting IV Compazine. I had to take Ativan to slow my limbs and head jerkiness from the side effect of it. It was a pretty scary time to be honest,I thought I was going to have a seizure. Just a thought. Good Luck, Scott Mc
