you devloped a horrible distaste to foods/drinks that cause your pouch trouble, instead of just knowing that you have to avoid them. It would be so much easier if salads tasted terrible, then I would be able to stay away from them. Same with soda pop...
My brain still does not comprehend that my butt can't deal with chocolate any more! And my taste buds can't seem to convince my gut that the flavor of Coca Cola is worth the gas . . .
But how can I explain to my body that I can't eat shredded wheat for breakfast, or have a slice of whole grain bread with dinner?

I too was a milk drinker all my life. When UC was dx and I was told no milk or pizza, that's what I wanted! Talk about self destructive. I have not had milk in 20 years except for a drop in my am coffee. I too have the chocolate issue. I eat romaine lettuce and no issue but iceberg and spinach forget it. After 20 years there are some things I didn't like and some I have learned to do without but when I feel like punishing my bum I go for it full knowing I will suffer for a day or so. Is it worth it? Debatable, but sometimes I flat out forget. The worst is eating elsewhere and not asking how something is prepared. I never eat red sauce and I am Italian.I try not to bring things in the house so the family is punished too!

No pizza Holly? That'd be were I draw the line. I quit drinking, can cut out caffeine, but pizza would probably be where I draw the line and just say "give me a bag."

What is it about Romaine Lettuce? It is the only one I can eat and no problems. I even tried soft boston lettuce and it came out like cut glass, it hurt the butt like crazy.
I can drink Caffeine Free Diet Coke with no problems - they go great with my organic pop tarts Tomato sauce is the worst...might as well serve it with a side of Calmoseptine. Milk was a problem for me even when I had my useless colon

Tell me about it!....thankfully, I can eat all the bad things to my hearts content. Problem is, my heart won't be very content if I keep it up..my doctor told me my triglycerides are through the roof, so I'm not supposed to eat any more fatty foods! As it is I'm not able to eat ANY greens or anything with fiber due to my chronic pouchitis, I just can't tolerate it. the last time I had a salad I was sick for 2 weeks..so now what i am supposed to eat? That's a good question, I'll let you know as soon as I figure it out! Figures, I LOVE anything chocolate, and have no problems eating it, but if I keep going I risk having a heart attack, not something I look forward to!
I've booked an apt to see a nutritionist, maybe he/she will be able to help me figure out what I can and can't eat so I don't dye of a chocolate induced heart attack!! I'll keep ya posted!
Cheers! Eric
I think my biggest problem is being young and beautiful, it's my biggest problem 'cause I've never been young and beautiful, now I've been beautiful, and god knows I've been young, but never the 'tween have met!!!!!!!
I am going to have to get some of that Romain lettuce. I am going nuts for salad. I have had iceberg a couple of times since take down, and it turned my stool very liquid and uncomfortable. Pizza is pretty hit and miss even from the same place, just depends on how greasy it is on any given day. Really frustrating when something might be ok, but there isn't any guarantee either way.
