Ok, so I have FAP and have two kids. We had our son genetically tested about 3-4 years ago and his results were clear- he did not have the genetic mutation that I have.

We had our 13 year old daughter tested just after Thanksgiving. The doctor called with the test results today. She does NOT have the FAP mutation!! woo hoo.

So both my kids are like the general public- wow. Never have I been happier that they are normal (and take after their father)... in this regard... everything else? maybe not.

I wasn't stressing too much over this- I mean there are worse diseaes to have, but this does make their lives easier. I came home from work and broke the news to her- let her know that I had good news and bad news for her...which did she want first? Bad news? OK, you're not a mutant. Good news? you're not a mutant!

Then we ordered pizza for dinner to celebrate. So FAP got a slap in the face today- my kids have beat the FAP gene!

P.S. daughter still believes she's an alien- from Pluto, so who knows what type diseases Plutopians get.....
