I had colitis over thirty years before I had my colectomy. Once and a great while I would have a flare up that would make life unbearable. I had to have a colectomy because prednisone had no effect. I was going every half hour. I could not sleep long without waking up to go to the bathroom. I wanted to die. I had my colectomy about five years ago. I had my take down my surgery thee and a half years ago after three operation. After I had my take down surgery, life has been more dificult than having ulcerative colitis. Rigth after my take down, I went many times and could not sleep much for over eight months. I still go too much. But I instead of watery diahrea, my output is thick at times. It is harder to have a bm. Instead of going once it takes many time before I stop going. I have to push during this time. During this time I am moaning and groaning. In my opinion, it is like having labor pains. Ofter it is related to what I eat. I tried taking more olive oil to gain weight and stop taking it when I noticed I was moaning and groaning more every afternoon when I usually have tomove by bowels. Thanks for takimg time to read about my moaning and groaning experiences.
