Hi everyone. Now, this isn't specifically related to my jpouch, but its really the only place I have to rant about this, so please forgive me Smiler. I had a nephrostomy tube placed in May, and yesterday was the day it had to be replaced. In May when they put it in, it was one of the most painful experiences I had, even under a couple doses of morphine (they only sedated me, no general anesthesia). Afterwards, though, it was a bit uncomfortable getting used to the tube in my back, but it wasnt that bad. Yesterday, it was just about as painful, only the pain has *continued*. Now I have some pretty bad sharp-ish pains near my right kidney when I move certain ways. I called the urologist on call last night about it and he didnt seem concerned, just said to go to the ER if I needed some heavy duty pain meds. I decided I'd try to sleep (it hurt even when laying still on the bed Frowner ). Luckily, I didnt have much of a problem going to sleep and staying asleep Smiler. Today, though, I have an endoscopy and a ureter stent removal so hopefully they can get me some morphine when I get there. Aaaaanyway... Thats my story Smiler

That drives me nuts. Don't they realize the ER costs $2-3,000? Even at insurance adjusted rated it is high and just contributes to the higher costs of insurance. They just don't want to prescribe pain meds when you aren't their patient because of lawsuits. Plus where I live you need a written script for the heavy duty pain medications.

I'm glad you got some rest and hope you are better.

mjmr - How are you doing? I'm worried you might be in the hospital. If you are I hope you are pain free. Please post when you can and let us know how you are doing.
