Wow I haven't been on this site in a few months...I can't believe it! I actually used to visit this site 4 times a day before my surgery!
Well I just wanted to say that I am still feeling amazing! I still have only 3 bowels a day and can hold it for hours if I need/want to! I am still meds free and hope to keep it that way. I have my life back... I couldn't be happier than if I never went through this whole ordeal in the first place. My suggestion for you all... Take matters into your own hands, electing to have the surgery over a life of meds is an appropriate reason to have the surgery! Have multiple gastroenterologists and surgeons look at your case. 2-part colectomy 1st part june 2 2nd part Aug 3 |

I remember you!!! So good to hear that things are "amazing" Its well deserved for you and anyone who has gone through this surgery and years of suffering with disease. I too have been feeling great and I know it's sometimes hard to come on the board and deal with issues that don't affect us anymoe. So posts like yours are great for everyone to read. Especially me......3 BM's A DAY.....WHOA!!!! I would love that. I still have about 12 a day and my TD was in December.
Thanks for posting its great to hear. Laurie |

Dear Amber
I am really pleased to hear of someone with such a good result. I was feeling guilty my good result was an oddity. I had my TD in Nov and only go 4 times a day (beat me by 1). I am feeling great and from the forums I read before surgery, I had no idea it was going to be this good. Thankfully I was talked into the Op by another J-poucher my GE introduced me to. We need more of the good news stories so those considering the Op aren't put off. I could have tolerated the ileostomy without a problem but am sooooo glad I didn't and went through with the surgery. I found taking 30mg of codeine pm gives me 10-12 hours and hence a good night sleep. I found immodium no good at all. The whole process was a little overwhelming. From diagnosis to colon removal was only 12 months. I attempeted to beat the resultant depression without drug intervention. My surgeon was onto it and got me onto the right drugs. They helped heaps and now I am coming off them. Life is great!!! Hope it all stays good for you (and me as well). Ross |
