Well, we just got back from a week in Colorado. We took two hikes. One was a couple hours, and the other was about four. The one that was a couple hours started with me feeling like I should stop at the bathroom but I skipped it due to the lines. I was able to hike both hikes without stopping to poop in the woods!
On the trip home Sunday, we left at 10:00 am and arrived home at 3:00 pm. Time spent in the bathroom on the way - none! I will admit it was not the same on the way out, as I had some trouble then. But overall, it was great to be out and not really worry about it. Tip for fellow travelers and hikers - if you want a good trip / hike, don't take bowel slowers at bedtime, bite the bullet, and get up a few more times maybe at night. Then the morning hours should be pretty clear with 0-few trips to the bathroom. Think about it... if you clear out overnight, and it takes about 8 hours transit for breakfast - you shouldn't have to go until 3 or 4 in the afternoon! Nice! Steve-
Were you in Rocky Mountain National Park? I have hiked there with my sister. I made her take an aluminum baseball bat in case we encountered a mountain lion as there was an attack by a mountain lion while I was out there. Colorado this time of year occasionally has violent, violent thunderstorms from the cold mountain air colliding with the hot air coming up from the plains, so it's always something to watch out for. When I was in Rocky Mountain National Park I saw some nasty lightning strikes. Glad that you could hike without having to poop in the woods but for me it would have been no big deal to do so. That's what the bears do! DJBHusky UC - 1972 as a 9 year old Colectomy 4/92 Takedown 7/92 Still J Pouching 2008 |

No big deal to do so - but glad I didn't have to just the same. In the Natl. Park it's always a question of leaving the poop (really against park regs) or trying to carry it out. I'd rather not have to ponder that at all
I did think that if I'd had to, I would have opened up a plastic grocery sack (check for holes first) and put it on the ground, and picked it up when I was done. Sounds simple, but... Weather held out pretty well. Yeah - around August afternoon thunderstorms are the norm. Last week they didn't occur every day, thankfully, and we hiked in the morning anyway. Last Friday the weather changed and it was only about 50 with rain. I told all the mountain lions to get away, or I'd poop on them - so they didn't bother me either Steve "...it came to pass..." - I Thess. 3:4b (NASB) |
