Well it went better than expected mostly because I had no I.V., no general anesthestic and no nausea...hopped onto the table, got drapped, watched the whole surgery in the reflexion in the lamp overhead (a bit freaky, must admit..But kind of funky)...took an hour...he excised the 2 stoma scars (one terrifyingly close to my actual stoma...yikes) as well as the remaining 5 inches of the mainline incision scar...then he lipoed out the fat pack left over from the last surgery...why, oh why, did he not do this when I was under general the last time like he was supposed to?
It went well, I didn't get cold and freeze or have my B.P. drop to my socks...1/2hr in bed to recover and I left with a script for a homecare nurse to change my dressings...The only unfortunate thing is that the 'new' 8+inch horizontal scar that he gave me last time is horrible and he did not pull the skin so I am still going to look like a monster but slightly less so...here's hoping that it all heals nicely.
Now it is time to try to sleep....
Sharon
P.S I just found out that I lost my court case with my health insurance...30,000.00euros....one year's salary. Drats

It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

wow. how'd they manage pain? Anyway...have to post a pic of your nicely reconstructed abdomen when it heals. Glad you pushed it to be right and hope it works for you. And as for salary--yeah. I live to pay medical bills and thats just kinda life. But hey--what else can a years salary buy--really nice car? other 'things'--yeah. But ya know--I'm really (when im in a more grateful mood of course) glad to have my health back--even though its taken years of life and money away from me...

I'm glad your surgery went well!

Health insurance? What is their problem? If they won't cover your problems then they don't cover anyone! Mad

Hi, Sharon!
Hopefully, when that scar fades it will hardly be noticeable! My original 8 incher is so faint it is a far cry from the way it used to look. Hope you can appeal your insurance company's denial of covering you for the procedures which ARE medically necessary. Each insurance company denies everything until they know you mean business. It may take time but it's well worth letting them know time and time again you mean business and are not rolling over and saying you are game for whatever they throw at you. Too many people do just that and these companies are counting on that happening with everyone! Well, YOU are not everyone! Glad to hear your good news. I know how frustrated you have rightfully been over this surgeon's attitude!

CeeeeCeeee,
I got a peek today while the nurse was changing the dressings...at least the old stoma sites look clean and strait (no more stab wounds) but I have no idea what the final result will be...for the moment I am in a whole lot of hurt but refuse to take anything other than tylenol and advil (I can't bend, stretch, twist or turn)...I feel like a little old lady shuffeling her feet...pretty hard to climb the stairs to bed too but at least I took a sleeping pill last night (first time in my life!) and slept for 6hrs! Nice.
I figure by the middle of next week I will start to feel better...until then....ouch.
Sharon
As for the insurance...appeal!

What a trooper, no drugs, are you crazy? I hope you take another vicodin tonight so you can sleep again. Confused

No Drugs...I never take any other than just post op when they usually put me on a morphine drip...I am just thrilled to have tried sleeping pills the 2 last nights...
Doc says not to move too much and not to put too much strain on the sutures...so back to bed.
(I hate being in bed)...

Your surgery probably was better as they weren't inside moving all of your organs around! I use to have a high pain tollerance level but think I've lost it or I'm in more pain than I realize.

I'm glad you are home and hopefully no more surgeries! Big Grin
