I had a sore anus for months now. I was given antibiotic supportories which have given me great relief. But if I reduce to one a day instead of two a day the soreness appears immediately. Has anyone experienced this and what have you done to help yourself?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Helen

My adivce would be to use a very warm sitz bath (hot tube warm), and wipe with Pampers sensitive(no alcohol) baby wipes.

Have you talked to your doctor about that Helen? I would almost think it my be a indicator that your tears in your pouch are not healing.

Are you talking about fissures? If so, antibiotics are not usually the treatment. Generally the treatment is sitz baths and ointments such as nitroglycerine, diltiazem, or nifedipine, all which increase the circulation. Hydrocortisone with lidocaine suppositories can also be used.

Jan,

I had a fissure but with the additional inflamation after the fissure the Dr subscribed antibiotic supositories. They do work when I use two a day as soon as I reduce to one a day it flares up again. I do have to see the Dr again but I am frustrasted because I can't seem to get off the supositories. Today I had a little blood ugh!!! How can I prevent it from occuring fissure or inflamation? That is the only problem I have after 6 months from takedown.

Thank You Jan

I would suggest you try Ilex http://www.ilexpaste.com/about.shtml

or Dermawheat
http://www.grassfactor.com/cream.htm

These have worked for many who have stubborn fissures or perianal excoriation.
