I just got back from my 12th and final chemo treatment. I should do a dance but will have to wait until this weekend when I feel better!! CT scan next week and then on with mediport removal and takedown. It has been a long road but this site has helped me much! Thank you.

Jeannie,

Congrats on finishing chemo! I will have my 12 treatment on the 22nd of this month. Then, I too, will see my surgeon about having the takedown. Best of luck to you on the next part of your journey.

Jason,

I was thinking of you this week. Good luck next week. It feels great to be done but I am still very tired. No dancing yet!! I think my husband and kids are dancing for me! I am trying to verify with my GI that the prep they ordered for my CT next week is correct. They seemed a bit confused when I said I have no colon. How soon do you plan on takedown and port removal?

Chemo has been the hardest thing I have ever done mentally and physically in my life!

Dear Jeannie, thank you for sharing your happy news. My husband recently finished 6 months of chemo and I know what a joy it is to be done with that. I wish you continued good health.

Jeannie,

I plan to have my TD in May. I will see my surgeon one month after I complete chemo. My last treatment is tomorrow. My oncologist reccomended that I keep the port in for at least two years in case I need more chemo (and I certainly hope that doesn't happen).

Just an update, my oncology office just called and my CT from Wednesday showed no evidence of cancer!!! I think I will be dancing all weekend now!!!!

Jason, I hope your last treatment went well this week and you get the same CT results!

Jeannie!
That is AWESOME news!!! I'm sooo happy and excited for you.
I finished chemo end of jan/beginning of feb. and let me tell you, i have bounced back tremendously!
just yesterday i downed almost a whole bottle of wine with my boyfriend and did some celebrating (dancing included)
feels darn good to be back!!

And yea, i was told it was a good idea to keep the port in for at least a year or so in case i ever need it (which, yes, i fully plan on NOT ever needing again)

hey btw Jeannie, I had a girl (i think she's like 22 or 23) email me recently, she lives in peoria and just got diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer. I have been communicating back and forth with her, but i just realized you're in her area. Maybe she could benefit from speaking with you some as well.

if you're open to that, email me again, I don't think i have your email anymore in my inbox.

Becca
