WHEN I FIRST HAD MY SURGERY, I HAD MY ILEOSTOMY FOR 10 MONTHS. IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING I ATE WITHIN 30 MIN TO AN HOUR WENT RIGHT STRAIHGT THROUGH ME. I LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT DURING THIS TIME. I WAS REALLY HAPPY WITH THE WEIGHT I HAD GOTTEN DOWN TO. WHEN I HAD MY OSTOMY REVERSAL, I GRADUALLY STARTED TO PUT ON MORE AND MORE WEIGHT. IM EATING BASICALLY THE SAME WAY I HATE WITH MY OSTOMY. SO I CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS??
I GUESS I WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT I WOULDNT HAVE A WEIGHT PROBLEM EVER AGAIN. GUESS I WAS SADLY MISTAKEN. KIM

Well you might be holding on to your food longer now and absorbing it better.
Since you recognize the weight gain though maybe you can catch it before it gets out of control. Do you exercise at all? Even walking would probably help.
Sorry; I know it sucks. With everything we've been through, that should be a perk...you'll never have a weight problem. I like the sound of that Smiler

Kim - I can totally relate. Eventhoug I loved being thin, I guess it is better to be healthy with a little weight than to be sick and skinny. That is what I keep telling myself anyway. It definitely stinks!

I have alwyas been over weight ( significantly!) Even with UC I never had a period until right before my surgery that I lost weight. I lost 40 lbs in a month right before the surgery but thanks to TPN and Prednisone, it all came back! Now I am struggling to lose. I have lost 58 pounds since the ileo surgery but it has been a LOT of hard work and I am at a plateau. I work out 5-7 times a week and just don;t know how much more I can do to continue to lose. It does SUCK!!

I hear ya!
While I love being healthy, I do feel like I gain weight easier but like mentioned above I think things stay in longer than with the ostomy and def longer than with UC.
I also noticed my body shape has changed. I feel like I've got more "junk in my trunk", haha sorry.

Lora I'm with you on this one! A little extra weight and being healthy is always better than being sick and thin. I've been telling myself that for years. Even though 10lbs less would be good! Kar...I wish some of that junk had landed on my trunk! Instead it kind of ended up everywhere. Frowner lol. The way I look at it..if we were all still sick...we'd be stick thin. So I'm taking this as a good sign. To a point that is...
