We recently formed a J-Pouch support group in Los Angeles County, following the lead of St. Joseph Hospital in Orange County (meeting since 1988). Our second meeting is this Sat. May 10th at 10:30am. Sorry for the late notice. The group meets quarterly on the second Saturday of the month. The next 2008 meetings are August 9th and November 8th. Dr. Jonathan Sack, UCLA's Chief Colorectal Surgeon, serves as medical advisor.

Tomorrow's meeting location is at CCFA's LA office, 1640 S. Sepulveda Bl. #214, Los Angeles, CA 90025. Parking is available on-street. WOW! I can't make it to this one but would be very interested in future meetings. My surgeon is Dr. Yoo at UCLA and might even be able to convince him to attend as well if he isn't already. August 9th., so far away, but hopefully I will be in better shape by then!

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you on this. Our next L.A. J-Pouch Support Group meeting isn't so far away now: Sat. August 9th at 10:30am, probably at UCLA--hopefully you can make it. One or two support group members from Bakersfield attended the 5/10 meeting; I think a few people from j-pouch.org also live in the Bakersfield area, so maybe you can carpool. Let me know if you need contact info. Otherwise maybe you can combine things by seeing Dr. Yoo on Fri. 8/8 (if he has clinic hours). There's also a support group meeting coming up in a few weeks in Orange County (at St. Joseph's) on Sat. 7/19 at 10:00am if you want to drive a bit further. There are some Northern California meetings as well, but I don't know the details offhand.

It sounds like you were pretty down a few months ago, so I'm glad things seem to have improved. Michael

I live in Sacramento and have always wanted to go to a Jpouch support group. Is it an all day thing? What can I expect? It would be a trip for me, but worth it. I have had my Jpouch for 8 years since I was 17 along with crohn's.
Any info would me great. Thank you!
