I have been having pouchitis symtims and my pouch is sick. My doctor has me on rowasa enemas and that does not seem to be helping. Also my pelvic floor isn't functioning I can't poop or pass gas without using a catheder. My gasto screened me so may times and two of the times it showed pouchitis. My surgion can't really help me considering that my only option is a perminant illeostomy and that makes me really upset. I already had two temperary illeostomies and I can't handle another one I don't have the dexterity to put it on and would need constant help to put it on. I didn't even like the leaks that I had with them or emptying on public toilets. I also can not eat solid foods as I get really nausiated and get a reaction really quick and I get really bad cramping and stomach pain that comes and goes. I get fed through a g tube. I cry a lot in my room because I don't want to give up my j pouch. What do you suggest I do? I have been to so many specialists and they have no clue.

Hi, I'm sorry for you difficulties and I'm sorry I don't really have any advice regarding that but I think you'll get more responses if you put this is the "Help! Need Advice Now!" Section of the forums.
Best wishes.

Have you been diagnosed with a primary motility disorder? The reason I ask is that with the upper GI symptoms so severe to require g-tube feeding and an inability to empty your pouch without intubation, certainly would point to that. This would not be a surgical issue, but a medical one, focusing on the neurological aspects of the GI system.

I do not know your location in the US, but you may want to seek out a center specializing in these sorts of disorders. For example CPMC in San Francisco has one: http://www.cpmc.org/services/gi/motility.html You can try searching the internet using the key words "gastrointestinal motility disorders." Good luck.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.
