I live in L.A. How long is the drive to Santa Cruz? I'm guessing around 6 hours? Cheap hotels nearby? People bringing kids?? Is the gathering one day?
I don't know that I can swing this, but it's worth a try. I'd love to meet other j-pouchers in person. As of now, you all look like computer key boards!!!

We're about 8-10 hrs from LA depending on fast you drive I did some checking and during the summer because we're a "tourist" area the rates go from about $200 on up. I saw some that were over $500. Of course kids are welcome.And spouses, etc. Would love to meet you. Yes, it's just one day. But lots to see here in the area. There's always the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk. If you are interested.
