Thought you might get a kick out of seeing the ostomy bag my daughter decorated for her 8th birthday. She wore it the day of her party and proudly showed it off to her friends....and only three weeks post-colectomy. She amazes me every day!
(Hope you can see the image attached -- haven't posted with an image before and not sure I'm doing it right!) 8-year-old daughter with UC. First symptoms 2/28/10, diagnosis 3/11/10. Sub-total colectomy with end ileo 6/25/10. J-pouch creation with loop ileo 10/12/10. Takedown 12/21/10. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. She bedazzled her bag. Awesome! I showed my son and he liked it too.
Last fall when my son was about to enter kinder I took him to the fabric store and we picked out all kinds of prints and i sewed bag covers for him to wear to school. You can buy them online too but they can get costly. Glad your daughter is doing so well and was able to enjoy her birthday. We were still in the hospital 3 weeks post op.....celebrating christmas there no less....i'm jealous. Ah...I have a five year old and if I had to see her go through what I've gone through I'd just ball. But that she can be creative with it...incredible.
