Hi, I would love to hear from anyone who had a pouch redo. My husband is scheduled in CC Nov 28th. He is scared to death, but of course, will not talk about it. Not sure if K pouch is the answer or temp ileo if the redo is not possible. He is just freaked out. Thanks

Can't really answer your question completely as Dennis decided no redo but the one thing I think I'd advise anyone at this point is to make sure what is going on with what's already left in them.

Thru all of dennis's problems, time passed before the CD diagnosis may be the death of him.

Can tell you that you will get good surgical opinion at CC. What is he scheduled for? Consult or a definate procedure?

And of course he won't talk about it silly! He's scared to death and you are supposed to read his mind!

Hoping peace to you both!

Brother opted or the redo and has the temp ileo right now till take down in 2 weeks.

His redo surgery was his hardest but because he was in such bad shape from a poorly done procedure the first round which almost killed him. Had he know of and went to CC for the first round we most likely would not be where we are today with it ... but since going to CC he is doing much better and Remzi feels the pouch redo will be successful.

Remzi will be honest with you - he told bro that he would not know for sure till he got in there, so he may wake up with a pouch redo and he may wake up with permanent bag ...

We are trusting for a good outcome on the takedown and I will post how that goes for him so you will know the report on this end at that time.

Cc is the place to go! and I wish you the very best.

PS: If you figure out how to read his mind as Joan suggested can you post some tips as to how you did it, so I can read my hubby's? He is not ill but still wants me to "tune in" lol ...

HUGS - all the best.

Hi, thanks for responding. His surgery is now changed to Nov 14th. They are planning a pouch redo if possible. But, until they get in there, they really wont know. My hope is a repair, but does not look good for that. I want him to decide what he wants, K pouch or permanent ileo. I think the K pouch will be very difficult and more problems. I want this to be all over for him. I think the end ileo would be best.

I still dont know how to figure him out. I just dont want the surgeon coming out to me with complications and say, "What do you want us to do?" He know that, but he has 6 weeks to make up his mind. We met with JasonPA last week, great guy. I think he helped Joe to understand the end ileo and how good you can feel and go on with your life.

Joan, I have read your posts and I hope your husband is doing better. YOU have had a long road.

Thanks to both of you for responding. How long was the recovery for your brother?
