We found out earlier this year that my mum has multiple cancers of the bowel, liver, lungs, nose and throat. She has had 5 weeks of chemo and radio treatment. She is due to have surgery on her bowel in July, then after recovery she will be back into a stronger does of chemo and radio treatment. Then the plan of attack for the nose and throat cancer.
She is very high is spirits, the upsetting part is that I cannot be with her on the day of her surgery. The multiple specialist cannot tell us anything till they do the bowel surgery.
My mum has FAP, had had a total collectomy back in 1987, was suppose to have a J-pouch in 1995. But she has been more worried about my other 2 sibblings and I as we were all diagnosed in 1986. Now the looming of my 11 year old daughter having to go through everything soon.
It is hard when my mum is 6 hours drive from me and that something so drastic had mended our burnt bridge that had been damaged for years. Now I cannot wait to go and spend 2 weeks with her next week.
For the first time in 15 years, she wants to be there for my scoping and a follow appointment for schedule another double hernia repair for myself.
My mother will be turning 60 in November, the frightening parts is do we have her for Christmas this year, or even to see my daughter start high school in 2013. There is a lot of questions that we have that will remain a ? for us till that time comes.
