Well Belinda has been so positive over the past 7 weeks about her FAP Genetic testing, it is so unreal and after getting the verdict, I cannot believe how positive she is about being told that she has the test came back "positive".

So not much now can be done till she turns 13, but my surgeon and Gastro specialist will be informed and she will be under their care, to make things easier.

But I am so proud of my son Jack, even though he was tested and came back negative, he piped up to Belinda and said "Sis I was negative but I am here for you if you want to chat", he is a matured 12 1/2 year old.

So all I can do is be their for her and answer what stuff I can....

Hi

I have FAP. I was diagnosed at 22 and already had cancer. My 2 daughters were tested almost 6 years ago. They were 1 and 4 at the time. My oldest tested negative, but my youngest was positive. She is now almost 7 and in 3 years she will be able to join a study at MD Anderson in Houston. I don't think she realizes that she has anything wrong with her. I have talked to her about it, but it's hard to explain to a young child. Hope everything is going well for y'all.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

It is very hard to accept the new at the age of 10, well my daughter was close to 10. I had to put myself in her shoes when I was diagnosed at 12. But at least there are support groups and counselors etc now.

She tells everyone that she is different in a special kind of way and it has brought us both closer together.

The hardest part is that she doesn't want to tell her father. I want to but, I have to respect her wishes. As she has seen the support that I had off him in the 15 years we were together.

She starts having her check up in 2 years, where I have my scoping's and she has already met the surgeon, so she is confident in that and I do not stop her coming to my appointments, more than anything i encourage the kids, especially my daughter, but bot my kids 11 and 13 are so supportive with what journey we have ahead. I be lost without them
